Boston Engagement Photography – Three Top Locations in the City

BOSTON ENGAGEMENT SESSION LOCATIONS

Boston, Massachusetts is one of the prettiest spots in New England to take engagement photos. With a wide variety of location offerings, from the City, to the cobblestone streets, to the beautiful Boston Commons Park, there are many options to explore all within a short drive of one another. Here are some of my favorites.

FAN PIER PARK

Fan Pier Park is a must for almost all sessions that take place in Boston. Located right on the waterfront, Fan Pier Park looks out over the Bay to Boston’s skyline, surrounded by beautiful brick buildings and hints of blue hour reflecting off of the windows. Take a short walk around to discover an open park area, a couple of fantastic coffee shops like Caffé Nero, and some local restaurants, some of which have Rooftop Bars such as Lookout Rooftop, located atop the Envoy Hotel.

Engagement sessions at Fan Pier Park are best photographed at Sunset or at the beginning of blue hour, as the sun sets behind the city and building lights begin to glow just after the sun sets.

BEACON HILL

Beacon Hill is another iconic location for Boston Engagement Photography. Located just north of Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden, this area of the city offers a wide variety of brick buildings, charming homes, and cobblestone roads that provide the perfect backdrop to any intimate engagement session. For the best accessibility, park on Beacon Street, right across from the Boston Common Park and explore Beacon Hill on foot. A short walk to Acorn Street will put you right in the heart of every photographers dreamland, beautiful brick buildings with cobblestone afoot. Just be mindful that close to sunset, there is very limited light available to work with on Acorn Street!

BOSTON COMMON

Boston Common takes the number three spot to shoot in the city of Boston, but only because it is almost impossible to avoid having people in the background of your photos. With its unique location, Boston Common is fairly late to change colors for the fall, allowing photographers to squeeze out some color from the gorgeous maple and oak trees that line the park. Take a walk along the many different paved paths throughout the park to get the perfect composition for you and your couple. There are many bridges, ponds, and even vantage points of the city, which allow you to get many different looks and backgrounds in a matter of minutes by walking through the park. Couple this with Beacon Hill for an engagement session, and you’ll get a great variety of rustic Boston buildings with gorgeous park views.
