Why We Love the Viewpoint Hotel as a Wedding Venue:
It’s pretty hard to beat the views you get of the Nubble Lighthouse at the Viewpoint Hotel. When I first started photography, Nubble Lighthouse was a location I frequented at sunrise, and I was always curious about the hotel that overlooked one of the coolest lighthouses in the state. Josie and I first photographed and filmed here after their renovations, which added Shoreside rooms, tucked under the ceremony site with a direct view of the water and Nubble. The entire front side of the room is a glass window with completely unobstructed views, and we think it’s one of the coolest hotel features in the state. Aside from the beautiful rooms, their ceremony site is stunning and provides the same classic “viewpoint” of the Nubble Lighthouse. It is classic, coastal Maine.

Why Couples Love The Viewpoint for their Wedding

Overlooking the stunning Atlantic Ocean and the iconic Nubble Lighthouse, The ViewPoint Hotel offers a breathtaking backdrop for weddings. Whether exchanging vows on the lush ceremony lawn or capturing golden-hour photos by the rocky shoreline, the scenery provides a romantic and picturesque setting that’s perfect for unforgettable moments.
Exclusive and Intimate Experience
The ViewPoint Hotel offers complete property buyouts, allowing couples and their guests to enjoy the entire venue without outside interruptions. This exclusivity ensures a private and intimate atmosphere, making the celebration feel like a luxurious coastal retreat.

With stylish suites and luxury shoreside rooms, The ViewPoint Hotel provides comfortable, high-end accommodations for up to 46 guests. The beautifully appointed rooms with ocean views ensure a relaxing and enjoyable stay, making it a perfect destination for a weekend-long celebration.
Perfect Destination Location
Situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Maine, The ViewPoint Hotel offers more than just a wedding venue—it’s an experience. Guests can explore the charming town of York, enjoy fresh seafood at world-class restaurants, and take in local attractions such as the historic Nubble Lighthouse, scenic hiking trails, and nearby beaches. Whether it’s a relaxing weekend by the ocean or an adventure-filled getaway, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during the wedding weekend. Here are some of the landscape images I was talking about taking when I started photography.
Limitless Coastal Maine Design Options
One of the most exciting aspects of hosting a wedding at The ViewPoint Hotel is the ability to fully embrace the quintessential Coastal Maine aesthetic. From nautical-inspired décor with soft blues, whites, and natural textures to elegant seaside themes featuring driftwood accents, lighthouse motifs, and fresh local florals, the possibilities are endless. Couples can go all out with a sophisticated coastal-chic vibe, incorporating elements like raw oyster bars, lobster-themed menus, and cozy campfire send-offs on the nearby York Beach. Whether opting for a refined, elegant look or a relaxed beachy ambiance, The ViewPoint Hotel provides the perfect backdrop to bring a stunning Maine-inspired wedding vision to life.
Our Favorite Venue Feature
Taking your wedding portraits with the stunning backdrop of the Nubble Lighthouse is one of our favorite features! The Viewpoint has a patio down below their last set of rooms that overlooks Nubble from a vantage point just above sea level, making it the perfect lace to take wedding portraits tucked away from your guests for a little bit more privacy. It’s not a long walk though, as back up the stairs the party awaits in the sailcloth tent on the side of the property. Josie and I love the little private patio for your portraits!

Rehearsal Dinner at a Local Restaurant
Maine has one of the best food scenes in the entire country, and if you want to show your guests a complete wedding experience, consider one of the restaurants we mentioned above for your rehearsal dinner. From seafood, to local farm fresh ingredients, southern Maine has plenty of options!

The Sun During Your Ceremony
The Coast of Maine doesn’t have many spots where a ceremony overlooking the ocean doesn’t face East, and the Viewpoint is no exception. The sun will be high in the sky, and likely shining on your faces as you stand up at the front of your ceremony site, which can sometimes lead to tricky lighting situations and squinty faces! We suggest putting whichever one of you has the hardest time looking in the sun on the right side of the ceremony site, traditionally the groom’s side, as that side will be back-to the shining sun.
HAVE FUN!
We know it sounds silly, but the most important thing you can do on your wedding day is have fun. You’ve hired vendors you can trust, let them work at their craft so you can enjoy the best day yet. Josie and I prioritize our couples enjoying themselves on wedding day, because it’s supposed to be a party with your closest friends and family! We want your enjoyment of your wedding to show in your photos and your film, and the best way to do that is to enjoy your day together as husband and wife.
THESE MEMORIES LAST A lifetime.
Josie and I offer something you can’t find everywhere: A wedding photography and videography experience by a husband-and-wife team. We are based in Southern Maine, but travel all over the United States and across the globe to photograph and film weddings for couples who put an emphasis on preserving their wedding day memories. We’d love to have the opportunity to get to know you better and create a package that works best for your wedding and vision! Reach out at the contact form below to get the ball rolling – we can’t wait to chat.
